Hey! We are The Gallavants and here to inspire you kids to connect with nature! It’s not like you are separate from it – it just seems that way. You’re all made from the same stuff, you know. All life on this planet is like one HUGE organism! How about that one?
We Gallavants have come here to assist with the connection part and would love to be your guides and playmates in the great outdoors. The way we like to do this is by mixing education with entertainment – it’s called Edutainment. We all learn better when we have fun, right?

We even made this website to get you kids OFF the web and OUT in nature! There is magic out there, so go outside and explore it with all your senses!
On this site we have lots of different pages such as, Plant of the Month, presenting a new plant every month together with fun nature facts. Another page gives you ideas about stuff to do outside. Other parts of our site give you some suggestions about making nature art, learning about the elements and, of course, cool stuff about us Gallavants.
What is a Gallavant?
But first – what is a Gallavant, you might ask?
We are distant cousins to the common forest ant – way distant and highly evolved.
Our lives have four different stages. We have a name for each one. Look at this picture – the Lifecycle of a Gallavant.
We look unlike any ant you’ve ever seen. Check out our Gallavanatomy Chart, with all the funny names and shapes of a Gallavant body.
This is where we live!
This is Ganterville, the first Gallavant settlement- right in the middle of Acorn Forest.
Upper Ganterville
There are two parts to our village: Upper Ganterville
Here we have hook-on-huts hanging from branches, gallavant condos surround Clear-Water-Pond, and a cool bistro is way up in the treetops. Connecting it all are paths, roads, bridges, and rope ladders.

Lower Ganterville
Lower Ganterville is a maze of tunnels and caves with stairways getting you from one place to another. There is the Throne Hall, where the Queen spends time consulting with her Royal ConsultAnts and receives her loyal subjects. Her Royal Chambers are located down here, as well. This is where a Gallavant’s life begins.

Educating Children about Nature
That’s what we Gallavants hope to do – Teaching you all kinds of amazing stuff about
nature!
We Gallavants love Mother Nature! For us, it’s about exploring her in all her glory. It’s
about being curious and respectful of all life on this beautiful Planet Earth.
Since we have spent lots of time finding out what Mother Nature has to offer, we now have loads of fun nature facts, ideas and suggestion of things to do or make, which we would love to share with kids around the world. And perhaps you can help us to spread our motto? “If you take care of nature, nature takes care of you.”

Exploring Nature with SPARC
It’s time to go out and explore Mother Nature! Going on “Curiosity-Trips”, is what we gallavants call it. Use all your senses. Look and you’ll see. Sniff and smell. Listen and you’ll hear. Touch and you’ll feel. But – taste ONLY if you know it’s OK! Before going on Curiosity Trips – Make sure you have
S-P-A-R-C!
- Safety! Know what NOT to touch, smell or eat!
- Parents! Make sure you have their or Guardian’s OK!
- Alertness! Pay attention to everything around you!
- Respect! Have respect for every creature and every plant!
- Curiosity! Be curious! That’s how you learn.

Annie Shaw
Kersti Frigell and Annie Shaw are the co-creators of the Gallavants Concept. As kids,
they both spent a lot of time in the great outdoors, discovering the magic and beauty of
Mother Nature. As grownups, they realized the importance of the connection between
people and nature, and seeing the disconnect today between many kids and their
environment, they were inspired to do something about it. Through their imagination and
creativity, we Gallavants came into being. Who and what we are, and where and how
we live is all thanks to them.
