A  WEBSITE TO GET KIDS OFF THE WEB? !

The Gallavants want to inspire kids to go out in Nature and explore it with all their senses.

BOULDER, CO –What’s What Productions has now officially launched Phase II of its new children’s website, bringing the Gallavants characters further out into the world.

Gallavants, a children’s “edutainment” concept originally created by Kersti Frigell and Annie Shaw, was not hatched yesterday. Since 1981, Gallavants’ lively history has included a full-length animated feature film, sold in over 30 countries, and a series of ten children’s books published in three Scandinavian languages, French and German.

The Gallavants concept has evolved steadily over the years and its focus is now more timely than ever. Ms. Frigell, of What's What Productions, says: “We want to help children understand that we are part of Nature, not separate from it. We intend to create a website that actually motivates kids to shut off the computer, go outside and get active and creative. This concept is an invitation to go out and experience Nature with all five senses.”

The Gallavants themselves are vibrant, engaging little guides and through their eyes, children will be able to see and explore the Natural World in an delightful new way.
Seen from a gallavant’s perspective of being about three inches tall, it offers an intimate view of the marvels of Mother Nature.

At  www.gallavants.com  you will find:

  •  The Plant Of the Month – An exploration of the details of a common plant that kids can find in their own neighborhood.
  • Gaia Quests – Suggestions for outdoor activities that encourage the child’s natural curiosity to explore. Leaf-matching illustrates the differences between leaves that may look similar.
  • Nature Art – Fun creative activities that stimulate the imagination using natural materials to make art objects, inspired by world-renowned nature artist Andy Goldsworthy.
  • Nature Blog - Children will be able to share their experiences and discoveries with other explorers on a bulletin board.

The goal of The Gallavants is to help create a greater connection and respect for that which sustains us and all life on this planet, and to assist this budding generation of consumers to become conscientious “Green Thinkers.”

Gallavants is now forging new ground in commercial licensing by requiring that all Gallavants-branded products and merchandise be manufactured using only natural, nontoxic materials and organic ingredients according to The Seventh Generation Principle. This Native American concept prescribes that all decisions be based upon how they will affect the 7th generation in the future.
